Cleanouts in Clayton

Residential and estate cleanouts

Clayton’s housing is a mix of older homes near the center of the borough and newer developments around it, and both produce full-house jobs. A residential cleanout clears the property for a sale or a move. An estate cleanout does the same after a death in the family, with photos, paperwork and keepsakes set aside. If there is furniture, tools or collectibles worth selling, an estate sale can come first.

Basements, garages and attics

Rentals and commercial property

Tenant move-outs, storefronts along Delsea Drive, and office clear-outs. See commercial cleanouts.

What the Borough of Clayton Collects

According to the county’s listing for Clayton:

  • Trash and recycling are collected on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, depending on your area.
  • Brush goes out on your trash day. Nothing over 4 inches in diameter, no vines and no root balls.
  • Scrap metal is collected on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. You must call for pickup.
  • Appliances are collected on the same two Wednesdays, also by phone request, except refrigerated units.
  • Electronics and used motor oil can be dropped at the Public Works Department, 875 Washington Avenue, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm.

The borough’s number for trash and recycling is (856) 881-3778. Confirm before you put anything out, since schedules change.

That refrigerated-unit exception is the one that catches people. A washer or stove can go on the borough’s metal day. A refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner cannot. Those units contain refrigerant, which has to be recovered with certified equipment before the unit is scrapped. We take all of them.

For oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides and other hazardous waste, Gloucester County’s household special waste days are held right in town, at the County Roads Department at 1200 N. Delsea Drive, as well as at the county Solid Waste Complex. They are free for county residents.

  2. Get an upfront estimate. Free, no obligation.
  3. Pick a time. Seven days a week, 7am to 7pm.
  4. We load, sort and sweep. You point, we carry. Usable items go to donation or recycling wherever we can place them.

How Pricing Works

Volume, labor and disposal set the number: how much of the truck your items fill, how hard they are to get out, and what they cost to dispose of responsibly. There is no travel charge this close to home.

About disposal surcharges: mattresses and box springs, tires, anything containing refrigerant, televisions and CRT monitors, pianos and safes carry a per-piece fee at the facility. We pass those through at cost and name them in your quote before you agree.
