Bulk Trash in Gloucester County: Every Town Is Different

There is no county bulk pickup. Each municipality sets its own rules, and they vary more than people expect. A sample from what the towns and the county publish:

TownHow bulk and metal work
Monroe Township (Williamstown)Bulk on two Fridays a month by trash route, 10-bag limit. Metal every Friday by request. No construction debris or electronics.
GlassboroCall the Highway Office before putting out bulk. 50-pound limit per unit. Electronics collected curbside on trash day.
ClaytonScrap metal and appliances on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, by phone request. Refrigerated units are not picked up.
Franklin TownshipScrap metal, appliances and electronics one day a month. Electronics drop-off at Public Works on Coles Mill Road.
Washington TownshipSaturday resident drop-offs for bulk and electronics.
DeptfordMetal appliances by arrangement with Public Works. Electronics drop-off at 1702 Hurffville Road.

Two things are true in every town: televisions and computers cannot go in the trash under New Jersey law, and nobody collects contractor debris at the curb. Rules change, so confirm with your own public works department.

For Monroe Township’s bulk schedule and item rules, see our Williamstown bulk pickup guide.

The County Landfill Option

Homeowners can haul their own household waste to the Gloucester County Solid Waste Complex at 493 Monroeville Road in South Harrison Township, 856-478-6045.

  • Hours: weekdays 7:00am to 3:30pm, plus selected Saturday mornings.
  • 2026 fees: $89 per ton for household trash and $75 per ton for bulky waste and construction debris, with minimum charges of $19 to $22. Large appliances are $30 each.
  • Vehicles: personal vehicles under 9,000 pounds only. Rental trucks and commercial vehicles are turned away unless registered with NJDEP.
  • Hazardous waste: not accepted with regular loads. The county holds free household special waste days for residents at the complex and at the County Roads Department in Clayton.

It is a workable option if you own a pickup and can take a weekday morning. It does not help with the carrying, and the no-rental-truck rule catches a lot of people.

How It Works

  1. Tell us what is there. Call or text (848) 221-7034, or email roadsidecleanouts@gmail.com. Photos help.
  2. Get an upfront estimate. Free, no obligation.
  3. Pick a time. Seven days a week, 7am to 7pm. Most Gloucester County jobs get same-day or next-day service.
  4. We load, sort and sweep. Usable items go to donation or recycling wherever we can place them. Our price includes the labor, the truck and the disposal fee.

How Pricing Works

We price by volume, adjusted for labor and disposal. There is no travel surcharge inside our core South Jersey area.

About disposal surcharges: mattresses and box springs, tires, anything containing refrigerant, televisions and CRT monitors, pianos and safes carry a per-piece fee at the facility. We pass those through at cost and name them in your quote before you agree.

Why Gloucester County Calls Roadside Cleanouts

We are Steven, Debbie and Gary: an actual family, based in the county, running our own crew. No subcontractors, no call center, no surprise fees. The job is not finished until the space is swept and you have looked at it. More on our about page, and if you are comparing companies, how to choose a junk removal company in South Jersey lists the questions worth asking any of us.
